Seat Personal Accident Insurance
The seat personal accident insurance covers the person(s) in the insured seat(s) in the event of death or permanent disablement as a result of an accident. The term ‘accident’ is defined as ‘an accidental, sudden, external impact on the body which is independent of the will of the person and which results in provable damage to the body‘.
As stated above, the seat personal accident insurance does not cover a specific individual but rather the occupant(s) of a specific seat onboard the aircraft when the accident occurs, be it the pilot seat and/or the passenger seat(s).
Type of Coverage
The seat personal accident insurance may include coverage in the event of death and coverage in the event of permanent disablement.
In the event of death as a result of an accident, the sum insured is paid out to the person’s next of kin, unless otherwise agreed.
An accident does not entitle a person to compensation for injury as well as death, and any compensation for injury already paid out will be deducted from the compensation in the event of death.
In the event of permanent disablement as a result of an accident, compensation is paid at the same percentage of the sum insured as the percentage at which the degree of injury has been fixed.
Certain types of disabilities, or accidents that relates to a specific nature or situation, are not covered under the seat personal accident insurance. We refer to the policy wording for a comprehensive scope of coverage and exclusions.
